Dear friends,
Well, I now have 24 stories completed for my 3rd 100 Best Book. Pretty exciting stuff! And that means I am 25% finished. Yipppeee! It has been fun writing but hard to fit it in with selling on eBay, writing a newsletter, being a single parent and having my best friend in town. I am sure most of you can relate!
Melanie (my best friend since 6th grade) is here visiting from Boston and I am afraid to see what kind of trouble we get into. You may remember her from stories #18 and #78 in Money Making Madness and stories #54 and #86 in the 1st 100 Best.
Mel and Me. Can you guess which one is me?
She will be helping out at eBay Live this June 14th, 15th and 16th in Boston. Please come by our booth and say hello! We are in booth 528. For more info on eBay Live click here.
I finally tried the Markdown Manager this week so will write about it for the feature article. For those of you who have already purchased my eBay Store Report download–I will write a more in-depth article that will be emailed to you for F.REE around March 15th! For those of you who haven’t purchased the report, we are offering it at a discount, but only until midnight on Tuesday, March 6th. It’s our Fifteen Off Fifteen Things Promotion! Click here to learn more.
Last year, I did a teleseminar with world famous marketing guru, Alex Mandossian. It was two awesome hours and for the first time ever we have it available for sale! Check it out in the Special Announcement section.
We have been hearing from a lot of you that my newsletters are not making it to your email in box. Just know that every Thursday they will arrive and if you haven’t seen it by Friday, it will be posted on my website. Also, the emails we have been having the most trouble with not being delivered are AOL ones. So, if you have another email address please sign up again with a non-AOL address.
Finally, all that being said, I am going to take a break from writing a newsletter next Thursday. I need to focus on writing the book–so THERE WILL BE NO NEWSLETTER for March 8th. Thanks for your understanding!
And, if you missed me on the Entrepreneur Magazine Sourcing Radio Show with Chris Malta and eBay Radio with Griff & Lee–we have links in the Lynn recommends section! Both were great shows as usual!
The Entrepreneur Magazine show was about 45 minutes and Griff & Lee 10 minutes. In the Lynn recommends section I also show one of the Nike pieces that I talk about in the interviews.
In case you missed it, I bought 200 new with tags Nike team clothing pieces for only $5 each. Keep on reading to see what some of them sold for! What a bonanza!!
Here’s to Successful eBaying!

In April of 2006 I did an Access to Leaders teleseminar with Alex Mandossian. It was only supposed to be 90 minutes but it turned into 120 minutes of great information. Alex is a master marketer and interviewer and his “Access to Leaders” series has featured such other personalities as Brian Tracy, Mark Victor Hansen and Vic Conant.
In this 120-minute audio download, I answer the top 101 questions that were submitted to us in our “ask the eBay expert” campaign. We received over 1800 questions from people just like you and it is great information! We have never offered this audio download for sale before and it is now available at a special introductory price. But hurry, the introductory pricing ends at midnight on Tuesday, March 6th. ‘Markdown Manager–A Must Try…just not yet!’
by Lynn A. Dralle, ‘The Queen of Auctions’
I just got this email from one of my students….
Hi Lynn,
I kept reading all your ezines and books and I am amazed how it all comes together! I still wimp out on $9.99 starting point all the time but I do mix it up more than in the past. But WOW, I used the store Markdown Manager for the first time and things are flying off the shelf today! It is very exciting! I have sold $450.00 in the last hour!
I put my figurines at 10%, my glassware at 15% and my dishware at 25% off. I love fun days like this…
I am sure you had something to do with getting eBay to implement the Markdown Manger program — Many, many thanks.
Again, I just wanted to say thanks for all your help and to tell you how much it has improved my eBay sales! And by the way, I made PowerSeller last month! Your books, courses and ezines have played a really big part in it!
Kind regards,
Cindy

I had originally tried Markdown Manager on February 11th and all the bugs were not worked out. So, when I got this email from Cindy–I rushed to test it out again. I’m testing out the waters and taking notes on how it is working.
My advice is to wait a few weeks. There was some strange behavior that you can read about below.
Here is my experience so far today: I put nine categories on sale all at 50% off. I don’t mess around. If I am going to have a sale–I am going to have a sale. Besides, the categories that I put on sale have had these items listed for quite some time. As an example, I don’t think I had listed any new jewelry in the last year. Time to clean house!
Markdown Manager will not mark down auction items (thank goodness) only fixed price items. I put 1213 items on sale out of my 4800 items listed–so about 25% of my store is at 50% off.
I put my Flatware, Jewelry, Books, Furniture, Gem & Trade Bead, Harley, Chef, Clothing and Pottery categories on sale.
I will have a different strategy for my dinnerware and collectibles categories, but for today, this was a great start. I sold $40 in the first hour. Just think, if that keeps up for the 5 days of my sale, it will add $4,800 to my eBay sales!
Here is a picture of my current sale screen–
what sales I currently have going.
Out of the nine categories I put on sale here is what actually happened:
Flatware: It missed 3 of the first items but got everything else listed correctly.
Jewelry: Everything marked down correctly
Books: Not one thing marked down although Markdown Manager shows it as scheduled to start six hours ago (this is exactly what happened when I tried it on February 11th)
Furniture: All marked down.
Gem & Trade Beads: All marked down.
Harley: All marked down.
Chef Cooking Tools: All marked down.
Clothing: All marked down.
Pottery: All marked down.
Overall it is pretty hit and miss. I really recommend waiting. For more information on using Markdown Manager please watch for my special report coming out in 2 weeks–3/15. After eBay has worked out the bugs.
If you already own my special report on eBay Stores you will get it for fre.e! If you don’t have it yet, we are offering a special sale price, but just until midnight on Tuesday, March 6th. (It’s our Fifteen Off Fifteen Things Promotion!) And it is worth every penny–check out the email that I just received from DublinKim:
Hi Lynn,
I just had to write and thank you for coming out with “The 15 Things You Must Know and Do to Start an Ebay Store”! I purchased your report when it first came out and printed it to read at a later date when I decided to make the leap from regular seller to store owner! I have been selling on Ebay for almost 10 years (Dublinkim is my name) and really gotten serious about it in the last year or so.
Anyway – I started to get quite a few “unsold” items stacking up and knew that it was time to get my store up and running. Well, I sat here last night with your report and went page by page and set up my store in no time! I’m a marketing manager, so I work with graphics and produced my own banner and was really pleased with the results. If it hadn’t been for your report, I wouldn’t have clicked on all of the cross-promotional or emarketing items, or figured out how to do the categories in the best way. Your report showed me how to move inventory from my “unsold” items into the store and made sure I wouldn’t get charged too much by removing my extra pictures and listing designers! I followed everything you said to the letter and I LOVE my new store and hope it will help me reach another level in Ebay selling!
THANK YOU for all of your knowledge and for letting the rest of us in on the secrets of being successful on eBay.
Keep up the great work!!!
All the best,
Kim Dermit aka Dublinkim – proud owner of Ebay’s newest store – “Dublinkim’s Delights“!

I was honored to be a guest on both Entrepreneur Magazine Sourcing and eBay Radio this week! What an exciting couple of days.
Here is a link to the Entrepreneur Magazine interview.
Here is a link to a recording of the eBay Radio interview in case you missed it (I’m number nine on the page.)
On both radio shows I talk about my luck last week at a garage sale. Advertised in the newspaper was “Nike Sample Sale–Lots of USC items”. As many of you know, I am a double alumna of USC–University of Southern California. My mom and I arrived about 10 am. We were not there when they opened at 7 am and it turned out to be in our favor as the family was tired of dealing with people who bought just one item.
I couldn’t believe the boxes and boxes of brand new with tags Nike pieces–most of them from USC. She was asking $5 to $25 per piece. I said “I will take it all–just name a price”. Finally, after about 20 minutes she said “$5” each. It came to about $1,000 and I got 200 pieces. Yipppeeee!!!
Click here to see what it sold for! Too much fun. I got to put away about 40 pieces for gifts. AND 10 of the first Nike items I listed sold for $225.92 total. I still have 160 left to sell and I have gotten back 1/4 of my money from 1/16 of the items. With those calculations–I should make $3,000. Cool! I am definitely going to make money on this purchase!
Happy eBaying!!
Lynn
