Dear eBayers,
I survived teaching that class in the huge room! It wasn’t so bad and quite a few of you had such nice things to say! Check out this email I got from Emily Kelly,
Hi Lynn,
LOVED your lectures! They were very informative, clear and fun…thank you for such great presentations!
Hope you had a good time in Chicago, and the convention was successful for you!
Best Wishes,
Emily
Because so many of you weren’t able to attend my three classes (The Fire Marshall actually shut down the big one I taught with Herb Oberman and wouldn’t let anyone else in!), please check out the Special Announcement section for more details about the DVD set. We are extending the low intro price!
Well, Carmen, Mo, Jason and I are worn out from the trip. It was quite the experience as you can imagine. When I got to my house on Sunday afternoon, I realized I didn’t have a house key! My dad was with the kids in Huntington Beach for–you guessed it–a baseball tournament.
So instead of wasting any time, I headed over to the new thrift store right by my house. It is the same thrift store where I found the beautiful Polish dishes I used as an example in my research seminar.
Check out how much this dinner plate sold for!
Well, Sunday in that thrift store was my lucky day! I got a huge box of stuff for less than $100. One of the collections I bought was a 40-piece thimble set. So on Monday, with a lot of catch-up to do, I started thinking to myself, ‘How am I ever going to get all this great stuff listed?’ Then it dawned on me. I’ve got my dad here visiting, plus two bored kids with no school to occupy their days. Please read my feature article so that you can learn how to put everyone in your house to work!
My ONLY Live Boot Camp of the year is going to be in La Quinta in less than three months. There are a few seats left but it is filling up quickly. Please read more in the Lynn Recommends section.
Finally, we are bringing back the section where you write in with your major scores! Please read The Queen’s Update section to learn more about submitting your stories.
Here’s to Successful eBaying!
Lynn Dralle, ‘The Queen of Auctions,’ Creator of the best-selling eBay Boot Camp in a Box and Boot Camp in a Box Lite.
Check out this email that I got from Diva Dawn–she is to my left in the photo below!
Lynn,
I just wanted to write to tell you what a wonderful day I had yesterday. I sold $350.00 with 40 auctions that were ending. And, I can specifically attribute over $330.00 of those sales to attending Boot Camp! Although I have never doubted your advice and theories, yesterday they were proven tried and true, over and over again. Bill (my husband) was amazed and astounded.
I just wanted to write and express my gratitude to you once again for empowering and inspiring me. I’m slowly growing my eBay business. From not having EVER sold anything on eBay before Boot Camp, and then only sparingly in October, I am approaching receiving my turquoise star for 100 feedbacks and am having a great time. I can work at three in the morning — or during the day — or at eight at night — whatever suits my schedule that day. The freedom is intoxicating.
Again, Lynn, — THANK YOU! You have helped change our lives — and we are so grateful. I can’t say enough about what you have done for me. Fear used to motivate me — but not anymore!
Dawn Ralston
Don’t let FEAR motivate you, either. Take a chance!

We interviewed Joel Elad for 1 1/2 hours, Lisa Suttora for 1/2 hour and we even got Mike Enos and Jim Cockrum. Approximately two hours of intense and interesting instruction! Regular Price for this single disc after promotion: $39.95.

‘Get Everyone Helping’
by Lynn A. Dralle, ‘The Queen of Auctions’
I was a little stressed when I walked into my office on Monday morning after taking a Pilates class. Who am I kidding? I was very stressed. Not only did we have a huge week of sold eBay auction items to ship, but we also sold a tremendous amount out of our eBay store.
In addition, I hadn’t listed anything in a week–I was down to only 17 auctions. And I always try to have at least 100 to 200 going. Plus we had sold some educational items at eBay live and those needed shipping also. I would also need to input all the new ezine subscribers’ emails, write an ezine and hold a Queen’s Court call on Wednesday. How were Carmen and I ever going to get it all accomplished?
And then there was the fact that my kids are out of school for the summer and just hanging around the house. My dad was also in town to take care of them so that I could go to eBay Live! in Chicago. As many of you know, it is very hard to work from home and can get even more challenging when you have a houseful of people like I do this summer! They were all in my face and bugging me. Well, not really bugging me but they wanted my attention since I had been gone for six days.
How was I going to make this work? All of a sudden, I had a brilliant idea. I would give them all tasks to accomplish based upon their individual skills. This way, I could spend time with them but they would be helping me to accomplish the goals of the household workforce.
Indy (age 9) often helps me bubble wrap items and she is very good at it. I knew that I could count on her for several hours of work before she got burned out. She has a sign that says, “Will work for Webkinz,” so we struck a deal.
I pulled four huge orders and asked her to go to work. Here she is bubble wrapping.
I also had Indy do some data entry for me on Wednesday. She is an amazing computer whiz and enjoys helping others. Houston has been really nice to her this summer because she is the only one in the house who knows how to work iTunes! Now that I know how fast she is at data entry, I am going to be really nice to her also! I’m just kidding–I’m always nice to her.
My dad is a lot like Indy and always wants to help out. We had quite a few foreign shipments that we couldn’t set out for the postman and we were going to have to take them to the Post Office. Perfect job for my dad. Boy, am I going to miss him on Saturday when he goes back home to Bellingham. Not only is he a great errand runner, but he even does the dishes all day long, makes the kids their meals and keeps the kitchen clean.
Next, I turned to Houston who is 11–going on 21. He is a little bit of a challenge since he doesn’t like to help as much as Indy and my dad do. He would rather be outside doing sports or playing video games. He did owe me money from buying some songs on iTunes, so I came up with a challenge. He does love a contest. I told him that if he wrote up and measured my 40 thimbles, we would be square.
He decided that to make it fun, he would get a stopwatch and time himself to see how long each listing was taking to write up. Here he is with the stopwatch, the thimbles and my I Sell sheets.
His longest time writing up a thimble took 2 1/2 minutes and the shortest one was 34 seconds. His record! You see, sporting events and competition motivate Houston. As soon as we tailored his tasks to fit his personality, I had another great helper.
I was then able to photograph all 40 thimbles and get them listed on Wednesday. Here is a link to one of the auctions.
I don’t think the thimbles will turn out to be huge winners. I think they will eventually sell out of my eBay store but at least they are all listed and the hard work is done. Luckily, at that same thrift store I also found this covered Mexican hen.

And this wonderful Nambe serving piece.

Before I wrap up this article, I want to say a little bit about Nambe. If you ever see that name on the bottom of a metal piece–BUY IT. Nambe is an amazing company out of New Mexico. They were founded in 1953 and are named after a tiny town close to Santa Fe. They are most well known for their metal alloy work and many pieces sell in the $100 range. I was just on PriceMiner and a large bunny rabbit tray sold for $643.99! The company is still in business today and even has a flatware line. I would love to find a set of that flatware at a garage sale!
Because I got so much help from my family and Carmen this week, I was able to get the two better items listed (the Nambe and the covered hen) in addition to the thimbles.
If you have a houseful of family and friends this summer, try and think up unique and fun tasks that they can help you with in your eBay business. If you look at each person and figure out what motivates him or her–you will be very surprised at how much fun it can be! And notice how all of a sudden it doesn’t seem so much like work anymore but a family project.
With everyone’s help, I now have 85 items listed at auction and am shooting for 200 by next Monday!
Happy eBaying!
Lynn
